Burnaby Day 6.
The race is finally done. But I was ready to race a few more days. I'm glad we raced 88's all week, it defenitly helped. The racing wasn't as fast as other nights, I think a lot of the big guys were tired from rolling huge gears early. Iggy and I won the last madison of the night again by taking a lap. We had some help from friends in the field by not railing it while we were out front. It was a great way to end a long 6 days.

Days 4 and 5
Day four went ok. We got our lap back and for the most part secured 5th place, as long as we don't have anymore bad luck. We started off the night following the fast wheels and conserving energy, and looking for opportunity's. Nothing showed up until the final race. A 200 lap madison, the longest race of the whole 6 days. Again our plan was to follow wheels and let the other team make mistakes. At 70 or so laps to go Iggy attacked and got the ball rolling. We got the half lap quickly and teams would chase and sit up, so it made it a long time out. We almost got pulled back at the sprint, but we kept rolling and the group sat up. I got thrown in to catch the rear of the field and that I did, but as soon as I got there I tried to go over the top and back to the front to be safe. That didn't happen, as I was going over people went up track and I had nowhere to go except in to the boards. I slid from top to bottom with another guy on top of me. Bruised the mess out of my left ankle plus other random other marks you get when you crash. We kept our lap and won the race, but did I take a beating doing it. Oh I also destroyed a Mavic IO. Day 5 went well, conserved energy to try and take some laps out of the team ahead of us. We were able to take one lap out them, but not much else.
Today is the lat day of racing and our plan is to race like madmen, go all out and see what happens.

Days 2 and 3.
The past two days were pretty much the same. Race and race, stay out of trouble and follow good wheels. I had some really good legs at the end of night two, but we couldn't finish off getting a lap back. Day three started off slow, my legs were really tight and I broke my saddle at the end of night 2 and didn't notice. So it was moving all around and made things a little tricky. I got crappy saddle to get me threw the night, but my bum does hurt.
Today we hope to get our lap back on the 5th place team, and we will be well ahead on points.
Hope everyone's new year is going swell so far.

My Grandpa came out to watch me race.
What a way to end the year.
So tonight was the first day of the Burnaby 6, it was crazy. Too many teams that shouldn't be in the race. Just cause your a good road rider doesn't mean your a good track rider, let alone race a madison on a 200 meter track. Iggy and I weren't sure what to expect from the race and our legs. The 200m TT went well, 5th and the team Miss and Out went well getting 5th. Compared to everyone else we're riding small gears and not training for world cups.
The first madison we were in great position and I got taken out by and Idiot passing underneath after I threw in Iggy. No rear road rash, but smacked my head pretty good and jacked up my ankle. After that we were playing catch up cause Iggy had to take a super long pull when the fast guys were killing it. I took care of my self after the race and tried as best as I could to get mentally ready for the next one, Iggy and I didn't have the legs to keep up when the big attacks went, but we did our best to limit losses. We should be in 5th or 6th, but I'm not sure cause all the points and laps are being taken by hand.
Hopefully I can sleep well and my body will do enough to get me through the next day. What makes this so much easier is that my girlfriend is here to watch a few days and got to hang out for new years.
Clay is doing an awesome job taking care of us and giving us a lot of useful info that we can't see out there on the bike.

Time to snuggle with my lady!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!
